What we work with

People come to Ivy Psychology for many reasons. Some have a clear sense of what they want to work on. Others know something is not right but cannot quite name it. Both are fine starting points.

Anxiety and stress

Generalised anxiety, social anxiety, health anxiety, panic, perfectionism, and chronic overwhelm. Practical strategies alongside deeper work on what drives the anxiety.

Low mood and depression

Persistent low mood, loss of motivation, burnout, and the kind of emptiness that does not respond to "just keep busy" advice.

Trauma and PTSD

Single incident and complex trauma, including evidence-based approaches such as EMDR and trauma-focused CBT. We work at a pace that feels safe.

Relationships and identity

Relationship patterns, attachment, identity exploration including sexuality and gender, family of origin work, and navigating significant life transitions.

Neurodiversity

Therapy for adults navigating ADHD, Autism, or both. We offer assessment too. Our approach is neurodiversity-affirming, not pathologising.

Grief and loss

Bereavement, anticipatory grief, ambiguous loss, and the slow grief that comes with chronic illness or significant life change.

Fit matters. The right psychologist for you is not always the most experienced or the closest to your house, it is the one whose way of working makes sense to you. Scroll through and start a referral so we can match you well.

Medicare rebates under Better Access: with a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, you can claim a rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. You pay the full fee at the time of session; Medicare rebates the amount to your nominated bank account, usually within a few days.

Why is the Clinical Psychologist out-of-pocket lower than the Registered Psychologist, despite the higher headline fee? Medicare's rebate for Clinical Psychologists is significantly higher ($145.25 vs $98.95), so the after-rebate cost is lower. Provisional Psychologists are not Medicare-rebatable.

Common questions

Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book directly with a psychologist privately. If you want to access Medicare rebates, you will need a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP. Most GP appointments for this take 20 to 30 minutes.
How long is each session?
50 minutes.
Can I claim through private health insurance?
Yes, most major funds offer extras rebates for psychology. You cannot claim both Medicare and private health for the same session. We can talk you through which option works better for your situation.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. Secure video sessions across Australia. Many clients mix in-person and telehealth depending on what suits the week.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for 48 hours notice. Cancellations inside 48 hours incur a fee, which is not Medicare rebatable.
How long is the wait for a first appointment?
Currently around two weeks for most clinicians. Some clinicians have shorter wait times than others. We will tell you who is available when you get in touch.
